This OUTDOOR RATED (IP66), REGULAR-DUTY, 22AWG, 6.5-ft (2m) long DC power cable can handle up to 2A of current. This outdoor cable has an M12-1.75, 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug at one end of the cable, and the other end of the cable has a pair of 2mm bare conductors (see illustrations) that are tinned and ready to be soldered to the appropriate points in an electronic circuit. This outdoor power cable is intended for the do-it-yourselfer with the equipment and skills necessary to solder the stripped and tinned bare ends of the cable to the appropriate points in an electronic circuit. The most common application of this outdoor cable is to replace an existing power cable on a solar panel since most solar panels on the market do not have outdoor rated (IP66) power cables. Most solar panels on the market have simple “push-to-connect” type 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plugs which allow water and dirt to penetrate which eventually leads to an unreliable connection due to corrosion and degradation of the electrical connection between barrel connectors. The M12-1.75, 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug at one end of this outdoor rated cable creates a weatherproof seal when the M12-1.75 screw connector is mated with an appropriate M12-1.75, 5.5mm x 2.1mm female barrel socket. A weatherproof seal is created by compression of the rubber O-ring on the M12-1.75, 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug when mated with the appropriate M12-1.75, 5.5mm x 2.1mm female barrel socket (refer to illustrations) such as those found on our outdoor rated battery eliminator kits and outdoor accessories such as our outdoor power extension cables, outdoor power splitter cables, and outdoor active dummy cell batteries. This outdoor power cable can also serve as a replacement of the power cables found on our outdoor solar panels and modules.
This Thin Flat Flexible Cable (FFC) has 2 x 24AWG conductors and is 5.08mm wide, 7.5” long and only 0.22mm thick. One end of the cable has a 2.1mm ID x 5.5mm OD over-mold in-line female barrel socket DC power connector, and the other end has 4mm of bare conductors that are tinned and ready to be soldered to a connector of your choice or directly to the appropriate points in an electronic circuit. Since this cable is extremely thin and flexible, it can be run around battery compartment covers, through narrow cracks and around tight corners, and it can also be run under items allowing them to sit flat without tilting or wobbling. The cable polarity is indicated with a white mark on the insulation of the FFC cable. This white mark indicates the conductor that is attached to the center conducting pin on the 2.1mm x 5.5mm female barrel socket connector. The female barrel socket connector is made of a black PVC insulating material, and the FFC cable is made of black polyester insulating material.
